Moon Plug is Finished

Our friend and test pilot Erik Baldwin from Leucadia worked closely with Dennis on the shaping and fine tuning of his "moon plug". It's a light, short quad built for So Cal waves and high performance turns. Erik colored and glassed the board himself and it turned out pretty damn cool. Here's the 411 in his own words:
"Well, she's finally done! ...and her maiden voyage this evening was spectacular! I can't explain how cool this board feels under my feet! its quite a responsive yet very retro-ish' in how it glides through flat sections. As for the performance, it seemed as if the better the wave, the more it opened up. Foot positioning was also very comfortable, as the sweet spot seemed to be pretty big! It was hard to do something wrong! Oh yeah, it flys really well! Punts are a natural reaction for this plug! Yew!"

Sparkle In The Sky

Erik Baldwin's Moon Plug has passed through its latest phase.
Check out the color, art work and tint. Looking pretty good - and check out the touch of sparkle! Unique indeed. Fins and hot coat next.
Stay tuned for the end product. It will be flying past your orbit in Leucadia like a meteor streaking through your ozone layer. Watch out for pelting spray!

Next phase will be fins and glassing.

The boys in Cardiff have been doing some cool spray and paint jobs.
Here's a spray paint job directly on the foam blank.

I Have A Vision

Our friend Erik Baldwin called me up about a week and a half ago and he spoke about a vision and concept he had. It centered on a board design he had been thinking about and was stuck deep in his cerebellum. He has worked with us in the past, ridden some of our shapes, given us valuable feedback and is incredibly knowledgeable about the nuances of surfboard design and the dynamics of water flow. Dude is Renaissance Man mixed with surfing McGyver. Plus he rips and is sponsored by a host of local companies..... so.....no brainer....we said "Come on down!". Here's a few shots of Dennis and Erik working on a collaborative vision. The template was made, blank rough shaped and kinks worked out. Looking forward to seeing the finished board glassed and finned. Stay tuned.

Baja Norte Grande

I stopped by a friend's studio in Cardiff last week to check the surf and grab a bite to eat. I saw my friend, and occasional Murphy test pilot, Erik Baldwin's truck out front. No one answered the door. Me: "maybe he is surfing the Reef?. Nah...he wouldn't do that - plus it looks stormy." So, then I called him. No answer. Then I texted him.
Me: "Where the heck are you?"
Erik: "I'm in Baja...just nabbed 5 biggest rights in my life!!".
He was out there with Mike Parsons and a whole crew of pros and hard cores.
Hats off to you Erik. Here's a shot of an unidentified charger that glorious day.

Fly Like An Eagle

Not much to really say about this shot - other than "wow". Our friend Erik Baldwin from Leucadia provides us with many ideas and fuel for the stoke. The height he has in this shot is amazing. Keep it up (pun intended).
