Finally..........

This place only breaks a handful of times a year (if that).
But it finally did on Saturday January 23rd. And staying true to form, J.P. Marengo was on it - with his 9' Speed shape. This guy is on a serious roll.
Thanks for the photos John. Check out his work at johnslavin.com

6'-7" RT Tri

This one just feels right on. It's for our neighbor and fine wood worker Brent Reid.
Sharp tail-rail edges with a round, semi-squashy Rhythm Tracker tail.
12" x 19.5" x 15" and 2-5/8" thick. Future fins. Board # 15,203. Enjoy Brent!

Zach's 6'-4" Tri

Zachary is a cool high-school kid from San Diego with a new board. And judging by these photos taken at Scripps last week (courtesy of Jack English) he's ripping on it! It's a 6'-4" tri fin and a tad thicker at 2-7/8". Measurements are 13-3/4" x 19-3/4" x 14". And he chose some old school laminates we found, including the Panda. Very nice indeed.

Baja Norte Grande

I stopped by a friend's studio in Cardiff last week to check the surf and grab a bite to eat. I saw my friend, and occasional Murphy test pilot, Erik Baldwin's truck out front. No one answered the door. Me: "maybe he is surfing the Reef?. Nah...he wouldn't do that - plus it looks stormy." So, then I called him. No answer. Then I texted him.
Me: "Where the heck are you?"
Erik: "I'm in Baja...just nabbed 5 biggest rights in my life!!".
He was out there with Mike Parsons and a whole crew of pros and hard cores.
Hats off to you Erik. Here's a shot of an unidentified charger that glorious day.

The Hits Keep Coming

Here's another action shot of the Man, JP Marengo, in his backyard.
Every week, so it seems, there has been a new W/NW swell.
Then the photos come rolling in. They never get old and keep us amped for the next session. We really like the colors and texture of the water, the color of the board and the kelp paddies. Blow it up and see what we mean. Enjoy.
